I tried to visit the Crisafullis when I was in Pocono in June, but they were never at their camper. Busy, busy, busy! I just had to fly back to see them!
I arrived for my visit with Uncle Jim and Aunt Cathy just in time for dinner.
We had tacos. I love tacos!
...but then I had to work them off.
A little stroll through the garden.
Goofing off with my good buddy, Edgar.

Leonardo - from Maine to Oh Canada!
July 4 - Fort Pickering, Winter Island, Salem, MA
Leonardo flew into our lives July 4th. We heard a horrendous squawking at our truck camper door and there he stood, eager to head north and looking to bum a ride. Something about needing the solitude of the Maine woods after all those race cars and wild motorcycles.
He had a grand time at the 4th of July feast, perched for a while on the Fort Pickering lighthouse and then overseeing the boats in the harbor. When the fireworks started he demanded to be put in the camper with the lights out. Who knew that such a brave bird would be so scared of fireworks.???
Leonardo rode back to Maine between the bucket front seats telling us exactly how to maneuver through heavy traffic, never skipping a beak, until Anne tied a bandana around his mouth to shut him up for a while. That is one mouthy bird. Rather than bring him in the house to scare Miss Boots the Cat, he slept in the camper and didn't do too much damage other than eat the edge of one cushion.
Next morning, we set off for Oh Canada!! First stop was at Cobscook Bay State Park near Lubec, Maine.
Leonardo flew down to the shore, only a few feet from the TC, but didn't think much of it as the tide was out. He was accosted by the native fauna on the way back to the TC, dodging brown rabbits, red squirrels, some very mouth chipmunks and the ever cawing crows.
Joe got him back to the camper but flew back to see high tide after supper. We all spent a very peaceful night in total silence. Nothing like the Maine woods, starry night skies and good scotch to put that beautiful edge on life.
Next morning we showed Leonardo the Maine monument for the 45th Parallel. He did read the whole thing but thought that was a bit too far to travel around the world to see all the places mentioned.
We stopped at a US National Park monument to the settlers of St. Croix Island between mainland USA and St. Andrews. Leonardo got very excited about the bigger than life statues and insisted on investigating each one. Here he is helping to use an axe to shape a canoe. He close to lost a toe but dodged just in time.
We could not keep him out of the stew pot but at least he didn't leave any "deposits" or become part of the dish.
At last he grew weary from the walk and hitched a ride with a passing Indian maiden and her papoose.
We got tired of the insistent squawking about "I want to see this, I want to see that" and left him in the camper while we toured Kingsbrae Gardens in St. Andrews. We did bring him back a piece of smoked salmon from lunch in the tea room. Tonight we are camped on the tip of St. Andrews right on the Bay of Fundy. He had to go see the water at low tide as it goes out almost a mile.
Tomorrow we head back to Maine, letting Leonardo explore our gardens. At the moment we cannot find his US Passport but figure he can just take to wing and meet us on the other side.
July 10-11 They made me work for my feed !!!!
These people are nuts. They must be Maineiacs. They bring me back to Maine, this black/white feline licks me all over and makes weird rumbling noises and then they want me to work by weeding the gardens. ?? I'm LeonardoDaBird not a servant.
Today I'm definately headed to the Cape to see if I can hitch a ride south with Aunt Lynn and Uncle Paul and not have to work.
What is this thing?
Pretty colors but who gets to weed all this? Not me!
I think I'll hide here and then head south.

Salem, MA - July 4, 2010
Wow! Was it ever hot this weekend! Even I thought it best to stay in the air conditioned comfort of the camper with Arnold and Jack! There certainly were a lot of people at the Northeast Truck Camper Jamboree for the 4th of July! Everyone had exciting plans, and it was hard to decide who to catch a ride with next.
You know, for a fleeting moment, I thought I saw another flamingo - an absolutely glowingly beautiful pink flamingo! Maybe it was the heat, or maybe it was a dream, but I just can't get her image out of my mind. : )

Lime Rock Park, CT - July 2-3, 2010
We went to see the Whelan Modified Races at Lime Rock Park in the mountains of Connecticut. It's really beautiful there. You could see the chicane from the camper, so we stayed there to watch the races. As you can see, my friend Billy came along.
At Camp Oilburner with Billy. It hit 100F, so Arnold and Jack opted to stay in the air conditioned comfort of the camper.

I've had a lot of fun with Arnold & Jack, but as nice as they are, they don't come out much. I'm starting to think that three's a crowd. And Billy is just a little too wild for me. There's no telling when he'll take off for parts unknown. We are going to join the Northeast Truck Camper group in Salem, MA tomorrow. Perhaps it's time for me to move on.
I'm looking forward to seeing Ron & Toni again, and to meeting some of the other folks. : )
NASCAR at Louden, NH - June 17-19, 2010
Another NASCAR race! Woo-hoo!
Me at Camp Oilburner with Arnold & Jack.
It's a little blurry because we're a little bleary. This place is wild!
We didn't have fenceline camping, and they don't allow birds in the grandstands, but we had fun with all the people and puppies we met. Unfortunately, none of the photos are fit to print here. Hee-hee!
Me with the Speedway sign. See - I really was here!
NHMS rocks!
(Thanks for the hand, Kevin!)
